Mariner's Historic Church

Sunday, March 5th, Lisette   & I gave a presentation at beautiful Mariner's Church in Detroit.  We were welcomed by many warm & friendly members of the congregation, as well as Deacon Bateman and Trustee Lisa Baker. I also had a wonderful conversation with guest Preacher & Celebrant, Rev. Michael S. Nelson, who is an amazing  representative of tying Detroit's history with Detroit's future! Were were the 1st of several programs at Mariner's  related to "Women who Helped Shape Michigan's History." Following our 20 minute video, and discussion about Lisette, I joined Lisa & her husband for a beautiful service in the historic chapel. The small but powerful choir and amazing organ touched my heart & was felt to my core!  Established  in 1842,  Lisette   attended services at Mariner's Church , and probably got her inspiration to will her money for the building of a church where rich & poor could worship. All 5 of Lisette's scenes were displayed at the Clarkston Library for the month of February.  The display area is 14 feet long !   We loved seeing the large area showing pieces of her amazing life.

Lisette & I were in the Macomb Daily this week... Gina Joseph did a wonderful job explaining Lisette's story, and capturing my passion for teaching others about her amazing life!   My only issue was that I forgot to spell my last name, and, (as often happens) it sounds like Walker, not Walters 😏... oops got caught this time.  Here's the link if you'd like to check out the article:   Lisette Denison Forth - Macomb Daily
