Mariner's Historic Church

Sunday, March 5th, Lisette  & I gave a presentation at beautiful Mariner's Church in Detroit.  We were welcomed by many warm & friendly members of the congregation, as well as Deacon Bateman and Trustee Lisa Baker. I also had a wonderful conversation with guest Preacher & Celebrant, Rev. Michael S. Nelson, who is an amazing  representative of tying Detroit's history with Detroit's future! Were were the 1st of several programs at Mariner's  related to "Women who Helped Shape Michigan's History."

Following our 20 minute video, and discussion about Lisette, I joined Lisa & her husband for a beautiful service in the historic chapel. The small but powerful choir and amazing organ touched my heart & was felt to my core!

Established in 1842,  Lisette  attended services at Mariner's Church, and probably got her inspiration to will her money for the building of a church where rich & poor could worship. That church, St. James Episcopal  Church on Grosse Ile, is also a strong congregation, still sharing Lisette's story.
